Door County is a peninsula in the northern part of Wisconsin, just north of the city of Green Bay. The peninsula is 70 miles long and spans a mere 18 miles wide at its widest point.
Door County has been enjoyed as a vacation spot by successive generations since the early 1900’s. Known as the Cape Cod of the Midwest, roughly half of Door County’s visitors come from within Wisconsin, about one third from Illinois (mostly greater Chicago area) and about 5% come from Minnesota (mostly the Twin Cities region).
In all, over 90% percent of Door County’s overnight visitors come from within the six-state Midwest region of the United States, however more recently, a growing number of visitors from all corners of the U.S. are finding out about the area and visiting Door County.
